Growing up I often heard people say, ‘common sense is rare’. I wondered how something that is common can be rare at the same time. It is also said that experience is the best teacher. Having been around this planet for half a century now, I agree with my forefathers, indeed common sense is rare. Because it is rare the price that is paid because of the lack of it is high especially by the young people who have not had the privilege of walking the journey of experience.
Common sense Tidbits therefore will introduce us to some realities that others have experienced, some would be obvious things that are not for many. My heart’s desire is that the reader will be inspired but also will be helped to make choices that will help them to make prosper in life and realize their dreams. For those who have no dreams will be able to generate some. For others who are not from advantaged backgrounds will find values and inspiration to ride on so that from their humble backgrounds they can raise to the ‘throne’ and rule.
About Juliet Namukasa: I celebrated my golden Jubilee just two years ago and i rejoice in the over 50 years of experience on planet earth. My childhood was full of ups and downs yet I had to fight, make choice and purpose to become someone important in this world. Currently I am the Country Director of International Aid Services Uganda, a position that I celebrate because it helps me to serve. But most importantly I am a born again Christian having accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of 13. This plus many life experiences has contributed to the great wisdom I exhibit.
My Passion: I am passionate about community transformation and empowerment. While I can work with anyone in any given community, I love working with children and youths. My whole being just comes back to life when I am with them. For every life I impact, I celebrate because then I am multiplying myself in them in a bid to Shape the Hadassah & Daniel Generation- queens and Kings. Hadassah is Esther in the bible- an orphan who later became a queen and saved the Israelites while Daniel was a refugee in Babylon who rose to ‘kingship’. Our children can become that in spite of how they start in life. All they need is someone to take them by the hand and walk with them. That is my calling.
I celebrate my new found passion- poetry. Give me your world, whatever it is, and I will give it back to you poetically. I celebrate love through poetry and i will put in words what you feel and may not be able to articulate it. I love God’s word, so I turn it around and poetically add to the psalms of David. The world is full of so much so I lay bare the social issues artistically through poems. Life should be fun and therefore celebrated. Poetry helps me to bring that world to the people.
